Elmsford, New York – July 11th, 2013 – Digiscribe International, a leading provider of document scanning services, document management solutions and workflow automation software today announces that the company has just received its SOC 2 Type 2 Report. In doing so, Digiscribe has become one of the first SOC (Service Organization Control) 2 Type 2 document scanning providers in the New York tri-state area.
This report is given based upon an objective audit by an independent CPA of a service organization’s controls that are documented, implemented and audited across systems and processes in one or more of five trust principals. The management of the service company decides which principles will be tested that are most relevant to their business. Digiscribe’s SOC 2 Type 2 reports on the company’s written, implemented and audited controls for the following principals:
- Security: the system is protected against unauthorized access (both physical and logical)
- Confidentiality: information designated as confidential is protected as committed or agreed
- Availability: the system is available for operation and use as committed or agreed
The SOC 2 report is a true audit—service organizations have specific criteria to meet and the auditor’s then must assure that those criteria have been met. During the examination, the auditor tests individual controls and the final report indicates which controls were tested and the results of those tests.
“We are proud to have received this report and successfully demonstrate our ability to securely handle our clients’ vital business documents and data while in our possession throughout the entire document scanning and indexing process. Engaging a document scanning company that has passed a SOC 2 audit and received their SOC 2 Type 2 Report is the best way for companies to ensure that they have satisfactorily conducted due diligence and taken the steps necessary to ensure that their outsourced document scanning company meets both internal and external compliance guidelines,” said Mitch Taube, President Digiscribe.
Beyond ensuring the security, confidentiality and availability of client data, Digiscribe also has a disaster recovery plan in place to ensure client and internal data are readily available and accessible during a power failure, super storm, or other unforeseeable event that may interrupt business. The company’s document conversion production facility is located just north of New York City and central to New Jersey and Connecticut.
